Shetland Twist-Cable Cardigan
Love this sweater.
I love a good wool sweater for winter. And this is a real nice one. Reminds me of the gorgeous ones I had in the 60's. The quality is good except for the sewn in sleeves - in the old days they were woven in the knitting process. But nice soft cable and beautiful blue color. The size small is generous but welcome for this style.

Light weight yet warm
This is a very comfortable sweater. I ordered the violet heather and the color is beautiful and looks wonderful layered with a turtleneck. My favorite type of outfit.

I bought a size too large. The scratchy feel of the wool made me send it back. It was a nice style though.

Could use one in every color !
I have a good sense of smell and the odor of machine oil was prevalent
when I first opened the shipping bag. After several trips through the drier with a scented tissue all is well and I can wear the sweater. I have several of these lovely sweaters in different colors and that was the first time I ran across an odor ---probably from the knitting machines. I enjoy wearing the different colors with different pants or skirts and blouses. I definitely would recommend them to gals who want to be warm in winter.

I love a wool sweater and this cardigan fits nicely even when completely buttoned. The navy blue has a nice frosty/heathered look and reminds me a lot of the Shetland sweaters I had in high school in the late 1960s. I had a rocky start with this sweater as the first one came with a hole in the sleeve. Reordered and the second one is perfect. I would consider buying it in another color.

A warm, comfortable sweater!
Even though the sweater is too large, it's great as a layer piece,; I'll keep it!

This is the wool cardigan they USED to make!
Remember the warm and cozy cardigans of years ago? This is it! This sweater is thick, springy wool, dense but in a slender appearing fluffy way, and it is WARM. Not too hot, mind you, just cozy warm. The colors are all pretty and I know that because I love this sweater so much I now own every color they have made. The new aqua and thistle are very nice and both are lighter and brighter than the darker mauve and darker turquoise of last year. They no longer have that pretty light green and should make this in a hunter green! I am 5'5.5" and it hits me mid hip. I am also not as slender as I should be, and it is a flattering cut and length. The sleeves are long enough but don't hang onto the middle of my hand and I rarely have sleeve issues so I apparently have average length arms. I am busty and get the X sizes to be able to button across the chest, and the X sizes cuts are bigger in the bust as they should be but not sloppy falling off the shoulders, which I appreciate. Sometimes one is an X due to allover size and sometimes due to bust size. My daughter is 5'8" and a true medium and it looks darling on her although hits her higher on hip due to being taller but is still a nice and flattering length. Her best friend is a petite small or medium and she has worn it and it flatters her, too as she just rolls up the cuff. These are excellent quality. I have to say they are bit stiff and scratchy when first worn but after a few hours on, they soften and loosen up. If you don't like that, put them on and wear around the house like a bathrobe in the evenings or tumble in dryer if you are SURE you can tumble with ZERO heat as these are 100% wool and will shrink. You can also hand wash in ice cold water with some ordinary plain hair conditioner to soften the wool. I didn't do either of these as mine softened up and increased in flexibility on their own after a short period of wearing. I don't like scratchy wool so this would have been a deal breaker had they not softened up and gotten more flexible with wearing. I suppose you could ball them up and shake them as well, to make them feel as though they'd been worn. I'm not at all careful with mine and they seem to tolerate being slung around and used as an on and off cardigan quite nicely. My adult daughter steals mine every time she comes home so I bought her a few for her Christmas. Don't let the low price make you think these are thin or cheap wool. They are extremely good sweaters. I have some other wool sweaters that cost in the $180 range and these are just as nice, and truth be told, warmer. Superior value. True to size fit. Colors are well saturated and very pretty. I'm impressed with the quality of this yarn. The gray is particularly nice and is exactly medium gray, not pale and not charcoal and has no tones of yellow or taupe. The oatmeal is a pale taupe with maybe a hint of pale vanilla, not khaki tan. Medium blue is really pretty, soft and gentle but deep blue. Navy is bright true navy, not dark navy but avoids royal blue and avoids purple tones. If there were more colors I'd buy them, too. How about a dark green and a dark red? Another blue? I'd love it in a strong purple and black as well! This sweater is a total winner.
